Rani Mukherjee comes from a well known family. Her father, Ram Mukherjee is a director and mother Krishna, used to be a playback singer. Rani completed her schooling from Maneckjee Cooper High School, and later studied at Mithibai College in Mumbai.
Some of her great Bollywood hits include Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. And some of her best performances are in Mujhse Dosti Karoge, Chalte Chalte, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Rani was the first actress to win both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress trophies at the Filmfare (2005).
Rani received critical acclaim for her performance in Black and also bagged many trophies in the category of Best Actress. Her four selected movies were presented to the foreign masses at the Casablanca film festival in Morocco (2005).
